How to check a clinic’s price on HIRA
ClinicSum’s numbers come from hospitals. If you are considering a particular clinic (의원) — most eye, dental and dermatology clinics in Korea are clinics, not hospitals — you can look up its reported prices on HIRA’s own website. It is in Korean only, so here is what to click.
Step by step
- Open HIRA’s non-covered price search. Go to hira.or.kr and choose 비급여 진료비 정보 (non-covered medical fee information). The search page has a blue panel on the left headed 비급여 진료비용 상세 검색.
- Read the notice. A box titled 공개자료 활용 유의사항 appears first. It warns that using the data to attract or refer patients for profit, or in illegal advertising, can be punished under the Medical Service Act. Tick it and close it to continue.
- Search by clinic name — if you already know the clinic, type its Korean name or road address in the box under 병·의원으로 조회하기 (search by hospital or clinic).
- Or search by treatment under 항목으로 조회하기:
- 1. 지역 (region): pick the city or province (시/도), then the district (시/군/구) — for example 서울 and 강남구.
- 2. 의료기관 규모 (size of medical institution): leave it at 전체 (all) to include clinics, or choose one kind.
- 3. 비급여 진료비 항목 (item): tap a category icon such as 시력 교정술료 (vision correction), 치과 (dental), 예방접종료 (vaccines) or 제증명 수수료 (certificates), or type the Korean name in the search box — the Korean name is on every ClinicSum page.
- Read the results. Each row is one hospital or clinic with its 최소금액 (lowest price) and 최대금액 (highest price) for that item. 지도로 보기 shows the same results on a map.
Tips
- The quick buttons under 다빈도항목 빠른 조회 (frequently searched items) jump straight to popular items such as shingles vaccines, pneumococcal vaccines, crowns and chuna.
- A clinic’s reported price is a reference, not a quote. Prices change, and the final bill depends on what you actually receive — ask the clinic for a written estimate.
- If a clinic charges more than it reported, you can ask it to explain. Certificate fees in particular have legal maximums (see medical certificates).
Why ClinicSum shows hospitals only
HIRA’s open data service, which ClinicSum uses, includes hospitals (병원급) but not clinics (의원급). The clinic figures are only on HIRA’s own search. ClinicSum also deliberately shows statistics rather than a list of named hospitals, so it never steers you towards or away from a particular provider.
